It's Not How Good You Are...

It's been a week of reading creative business books for me and loved this short and sweet book...It's Not How Good You Are, Its How Good You Want to Be by Paul Arden. While the book is mostly geared towards designers in the graphic design or advertising business, there really are some great overall statements made that apply to life and business in general. The quick read book (I finished it in less than 30 mins) is great for a pick-me-up when you're feeling uninspired and need a boost of encouragement. It encourages hard work and determination rather than finding the easy way out. One of my favorites quotes from the book...

"There are no short cuts to any place worth going." - Beverly Sills

I love this book. A friend gave it to me when I left my full time job.

This book changed my life.

I love that book. It is great. The other one, Whatever you think, think the opposite is equally as inspiring and thought provoking.

I have this book! Love it!

This looks great. Will pick it up the next time I hit the bookstores. Thanks for sharing!

I own this book too, it really is refreshing and inspiring.

I bought this book in May - think I´ve better read it this weekend .) Love the title so far.

I love this book too. With a nice presentation, I found it very inspiring.

that quote is perfect. it made me think....there were no short flights to buenos aires...<3.

do you guys have any other picks for inspiring books? i also like twyla tharp's book on creativity.

This book is fantastic but I definitely love the other one better, the - 'whatever u think, think the opposite' one.

what a great post on a friday afternoon to end a long, long work week! will definitely get myself a copy.

A friend gave me this book a couple of years ago. It makes a great gift for someone who is career-minded, or starting a new venture. Actually, I gave it to another friend when I was done reading it!!

Oh! I have this book as well- I flipped through it- loved it so much that i instantly picked it up. I've been giving to my juniors & more than that its a great book to look into every once in a while. Im an advertising art director too & I've been a fan of your blog for a while now.
