Design-within-reach-pixo-lamp

One of my favorite desk items in my studio is this Pixo lamp from Design Within Reach. It turns in any direction and has a USB plug in the base which is perfect for charging my phone. It's modern, chic, and goes with anything. So today, we're partnering with Design Within Reach to give away one Pixo lamp to five lucky readers (yep 5)!

To enter this giveaway, simply visit the Pixo lamp page on Design Within Reach, then leave a comment here telling me which color you'd choose (the white and gold is my favorite) and which room you'd use it in. Entries must be posted by this Friday, November 1st, at 8 a.m. PST, and one winner will be chosen at random*.

UPDATE: Congrats to Kimberly V. from Philadelphia, PA, Darlyn M. from Norwalk, CA, Nancy S. from Euclid, OH, Stacey B. from Buena Park, CA, and Kata M. from Portland, OR. for being the winners of our giveaway this time.

packing for a family trip... 28 Oct 2013

Oh Joy | Packing for a Family Trip

We're heading to Mexico tomorrow! As part of a partnership with St. Regis hotels, we're off to Punta Mita to experience Family Traditions at St. Regis, which is all about making a vacation with kids easier and more fun thanks to the hotel's family-friendly activities and accommodations. We're hoping to continue the tradition of at least one far-away vacation per year. France was super far away, so I love that Punta Mita is only a three-hour flight for us (it almost seems like a piece of cake compared to flying to Paris!). And since we recently traveled overseas with Ruby and now we're heading out of the country again to Mexico, I thought I'd share some of my packing tips for staying prepared, while still keeping things easy, on your family adventures...

happy friday + ruby's 2nd birthday party! 25 Oct 2013

Oh Joy | Ruby's 2nd Birthday Party

A couple weekends ago, we celebrated Ruby's 2nd birthday in a local park with friends, food, and amazing weather. It was a morning full of Ruby's favorite things: balloons, sunglasses, pancakes, and bubbles.

Oh Joy | Ruby's 2nd Birthday Party

Last year I hung a ton of decorations from trees and branches, but it took so long to get everything up and taken down that I wanted to keep it more simple this time. So this year I decided to use decor that our little guests would also want to take home (less clean-up at the end!) and got a bunch of mini gold #2 balloons.

Trader Joe's Speculoos Chocolate Bar

Have you ever fallen head over heels in love with something edible? I just about nearly proposed to this bar of Speculoos Dark Chocolate Bar (from Trader Joe's) after having a bite yesterday. The sweet and gingerbread cookie butter that I love so much is pretty amazing mixed with dark chocolate in these bite-sized pieces. My new current obsession hands-down...

Emily & Meritt for PBteen | Oh Joy

I'm a big fan of designer collaborations with big box brands because it gives a glimpse into a designer's aesthetic in a more afforable form. I've been a fan of the styling and designer duo Emily & Meritt for some time now, so I loved seeing their newest line. The new Emily & Meritt for PBteen collection is full of the same whimsical and vintage details that they apply to their fashion styling work. And while the new collection is intended for teens, I love so many of the pieces for my own bedroom!

Today, we've partnered with Emily & Meritt for PBteen to give away some of my favorite pieces from their new collection including Metallic Dottie Bedding (duvet, sheets, pillow cases, shams, and bed skirt), Bunny Clock, and Animal Wall Hooks (approx $500 value in total). The metallic dots and stripes are so fun on their own or even mixed with your existing bedding (I paired it with some pink dotted cases and a grey coverlet that I already had). I also loved clustering all three Animal Hooks side-by-side to hold my favorite accessories.

Jasmine Dowling Typography
This week has been a pretty non-stop week over at the studio working on some exciting upcoming projects. My brain has been non-stop—I feel overwhelmed, tired, yet inspired all at the same time. I came across this beautiful lettering by Jasmine Dowling, and it pretty much sums up my week and reminds me that we're all working towards something pretty awesome—either personally or professionally. Hope you all have an amazing weekend full of big and small accomplishments alike...
