I love color. I’m guessing you guys already know that ;) Color inspires me every day. And I surround myself with color in my home, what I wear, and things I make. Because I know that color can be intimidating to some, today, I wanted to show you how to take a color combination you might come across and how to integrate it into your home. Inspired by the bright and vibrant flavors and packaging color pairings of our sponsor, Curate Snacks, I’ll take two sets of colors, create a mood board to show how to bring it to life, and then show you how you can work it into your home.

Today we’re working with Pink and Green (inspired by Irresistible Dark Chocolate) and Apricot and Yellow (inspired by Harmonious Blend). I’ve teamed up with my fellow color lover, Justina Blakeney, where she’ll be doing the same exact color exercise and styling in her home with two other color combinations, too! Come see what we came up with...

Let’s start with Pink and Green. Depending on the shades of pink and green you use, this combination of colors can look preppy, tropical, whimsical, or sophisticated. I like to create a mood board to help look at various shades before diving into creating a full room. That way, you can see what works and what doesn't in advance.

For this sitting area, we chose to use more saturated versions of pink and green by accenting our hunter green couch and white coffee table with accents of fuchsia. In order to give the space (and your eyes) some areas for rest, we also added in some blues and neutrals to help balance out all the intensity of the pink. If you start with a pretty bold color combination, neutrals and lighter shades of complimentary colors help to balance out the hotness of some of those hues. So what could seem like a hard combination to integrate into your home, turns into a bright and modern combination.

Now let’s look at Apricot and Yellow combination which is naturally very sunny and bright. Since this combination feels like a fresh bowl of citrus fruit, we pulled actual fruit into our mood board and decided the color combo would be perfect for a kitchen area.

Rather then using any large furniture pieces in this color combination (because a yellow couch might not something you'll still love in five years), we used the duo within the smaller accessories. The wall art, table linens, and table decor creates this sunny citrus vibe while the main furniture stays neutral and light. This citrus-inspired combination surely brings summer into your home any time of the year.
