dressing the team / bomber jackets...
9 Mar 2017

For our newest Dressing the Team, we're all wearing a must-have trend piece right now—the bomber jacket. Unlike some trends (ahem harem pants), everyone—no matter what size or shape—can wear a bomber jacket. They are such a versatile piece that I currently have a few on rotation as my go-to layering option right now. Here's how we wore them...

Julia, our Creative Producer & Stylist, paired her mesh bomber jacket with a fun floral jumper. Since this style of jacket is definitely a light layer, I love that she played off the see-through material with a pop of pattern underneath. Accented by some bold pom-pom earrings and bright blue clogs, this outfit is great for brunch with the ladies or a daytime date!

Julia is wearing a Forever 21 mesh jacket, ASOS romper (similar), Bryr sandals, Marley & Alfie earrings

Courtney, my Executive Assistant, went for the athleisure look with this palm printed bomber jacket. I love the contrast of the sleek patterned jacket with the sporty layers she wore underneath. It feels like a casual look she can wear on the weekends or to go from work to play.

Courtney's wearing a Forever 21 jacket (sold out, similar), Target sneakers, Victoria's Secret leggings, Gap sports bra, and Perverse sunglasses.

Angie, our designer, is typically the sporty one in the group. Since her bomber jacket is already on the sporty side (with a hint of varsity stripes), she contrasted the sporty prep with other pieces that are a bit more flowy and dressy. I love how she paired a colorful floral top with wide leg pants and shimmery wedges for a fun outfit to wear to work at the Oh Joy office.

Jess, our crafting assistant, is wearing an edgier version of a bomber jacket in a dark green with metal details. I love how she added to the biker vibe with a scarf tied around her neck but also contrasted it some extra feminine details with bright playsuit and heeled booties.

Jess is wearing a Forever 21 jacket (sold out, similar), Jolie Coquette romper, Chloe & Isabel necklace, Angie Stalker scarf, Sole Society shoes (similar).

Joy, that's me! I chose a faux fur pale pink bomber jacket that feels like the softest blanket/teddy bear ever. I have worn this jacket every other day since I got it for those cool Los Angeles mornings. I love that the jacket almost feels like one of those fur stoles that you can wear over a fancy dress. So for this look, I paired it with one of my favorite vintage dresses. For a night out for a fancy party, it adds soft texture and warmth to this softly pleated look.

I'm wearing a vintage dress, Forever 21 faux fur jacket, and Marais sandals.

Since anyone can wear a jacket and look great it in, with bomber jackets it's all about contrast. If it's sporty, add feminine details. If it's structured, wear it with something flowy. If it has texture, pair it with a piece that has a different texture.
