a rainbow striped room

Have you ever thought about putting a rainbow striped wall into a room in your home? Probably not. We were recently inspired by the rainbow wall at Paul Smith last month and painted this wall in our studio to show you have amazing it can look...if you dare to try! Here are three rooms we created to show you how to style a room with a rainbow striped wall!

1. Bedroom. To offset the colorful wall and make it feel like a bedroom that a grown-up would actually use, we went with a darker color palette and a navy blue duvet to ground the space. Gold and wood accents give the room texture while additional white pieces with simple lines allows the wall to be the focal point. A few additional colors are brought in but only with smaller pillows on top of the darker bedding.

Items shown: Eric Trine plant stand, Urban Outfitters gold planter, Target night stand, vintage lamp, vintage phone, Bridgette Thornton pink flower print, Bridgette Thornton gray flower print, Target rhino figurine, Target elephant figurine, Eric Trine chair, Ikea navy pillow (past season), Moroccan pouf (similar), CB2 bed, Loomstead duvet & pillow set, Arro Home abstract pillow (past season), Arro Home eye pillow, Leif neon pillow (past season), Arro Home lumbar pillow, Pom Pom at Home throw blanket, Lorena Canalsrug, Target bench, Target hat (similar), Nomah Project backpack.

2. Entryway or dining room. This would make for a perfect entry or dining room where guests can see it when they first walk into your home or while enjoying dinner. One thing we did in this room—which isn't always possible in real life but looks VERY cool—is that we styled items on the credenza that match the wall color behind it. You can see on the credenza that the items from left to right go from green to blue to peach to pink. It looks SO cool, and works best in a space where you can display items like that versus a space where you would need to move things regularly for everyday. Other than those colorful accessories, everything else in the room was kept white to make the wall really shine.

Items shown: Eric Trine plant stand, Coco Carpets rug, Ai Modern credenza, vintage phone, Jeff Mindell palm print, Lisa McLean abstract print, Poketo geos, Goodnight Lightpineapple night light, The Container Store pink box, vintage pink lamp, Indego Africablue ottoman, M Gemi shoes, Target pink shag, Sunbeam Vintage chair, Modern by Dwell x Target throw blanket, Moroccan pouf (similar).

3. Playroom. And if you can't quite get the courage to paint the rainbow stripes in a grown-up space, then it absolutely is perfection for a kids' playroom, don't you think?! In this room, we went a little bolder with the accessories (since we tend to be more open to color when it comes to kids room) and added a really fun vintage rug that compliments the wall perfectly. We still kept the furniture white because it really pops and lets the wall stand out as an art piece on its own. As always, gold is a neutral, so we made sure to glitz it up with some gold furniture pieces—like the ottoman, table, and circle shelf.

Items shown: Target wire shelf, Lux Tots sun night light (similar), Babyletto dresser, Moppet Kidsllama The Container Store lacquered boxes, Leggybuddy frog plush, Monroe Workshop giraffe, Sharon Montrose pig print, Framebridge frame, Leo Kids pom pom garland, Bonjour Fete tassel garland, vintage rug, Lorena Canals woven bin, Jellycatflamingo, Blabla Kids rabbit plush, Monroe Workshop rocking horse, Target chairs,Target table, Gretel blocks, MissJoyka unicorn pillow, Oh Joy! for Target ottoman.
