color adventures: a yellow and blue home office

This month, our Color Adventures pairing is...yellow and blue! Yellow and blue may seem like colors you'd never want to put together. BUT, when used with various shades and varying proportions of each color, it can feel sophisticated and fun all at the same time. Here is a home office we styled in these two colors....

color adventures: a yellow and blue home office

1. A higher color block. You know how much we love a color blocked wall as an accent wall. For this space, we painted the color block higher about 3/4 of the way up vs. halfway up we usually stick to. The nice thing about color blocking a wall is there's no wrong way or wrong placement of where one color starts and the other one stops. It really depends on the space and the pieces you're putting in it.

2. One large art print rather than a gallery wall. To give the high color blocked wall some focus, we kept the art to one beautiful blue print rather than a cluster of art.

3. Make yellow more sophisticated. Yellow can feel like a color you'd mostly see in a kids room. But by adding the white contrast to the wall, as well as the darker blue shades, and touches of neutral (wood, black, white) with accessories, this whole area feels fun and eclectic yet still very pulled together.
