Oh JoyOh Joy

{closet & casa} with amy osaba...

who: Amy Osaba, Event and Floral Designer

why amy rocks: I experienced how great Amy's floral skills were a few months ago when she decorated this space for me. She used those bright colored vessels shown above, and it looked fantastic!

in her closet: I am constantly scouring thrift and vintage stores so finding that latest treasure can be tough, but one of my favorites are my lovely green vintage Justin boots. I found these on one of those days that I wasn't supposed to be shopping, but somehow they found me and made their way home with me. And now, I wear them almost daily. They are comfy enough to wear on production days but groovy enough to wear with a fun skirt or dress!

in her casa: I tend to be drawn to bottles, all kinds of little vessels, and trinkets so this collection of blue antique decanters just makes me happy. The gradation of color sings when the light hits it just right.

Thanks Amy!

{closet & casa} with victoria smith...

who: Victoria Smith, Design & Lifestyle Blogger, sfgirlybybay

why victoria rocks: I totally look up to Victoria as a trend setter and all around cool chick. Just take a look at her house!

in her closet: I found this King Louie vintage-inspired pencil skirt in a small boutique in the 9 Straats in Amsterdam, and with one look, I knew I had to have it. I must be drawn to bright, hot pink florals lately. I thought it was funny when Bri thought I'd scanned my blog logo when she saw me in this skirt at Alt Summit. It just seems to be my thing these days.

in her casa: I love my vintage Knoll Saarinen Tulip chairs. I have a set of four, which I scored on Craigslist, along with the companion Tulip-based table, for a mere $150. That makes me mighty proud. They also swivel which makes them extra fun at dinner parties. I had cushions made for them in a vintage floral drapery fabric from the flea market to contrast the mid-century modern aspect which funks them up a bit.

Thanks Victoria!

who: Lee Kleinhelter, designer and owner of Pieces

why lee rocks: There is endless interior inspiration in Lee's store. When I was decorating my loft, I found myself on the Pieces site all the time.

in her closet: With spring approaching, I'm loving my bold denims. I tend to gravitate towards solid vibrant, happy colors like these yellow jeans.

in her casa: The colors I wear reflect through my home and store. Just like the vintage yellow hostess chairs in my dining room—they will brighten anyone's day.

Thanks Lee!

{closet & casa} with shana frase...

who: Shana Frase, Painter

why shana rocks: From the moment I saw her beautiful website, I knew I was gonna like this gal!

in her closet: Like a great pair of heels or statement earrings, this cropped sequin jacket helps make any outfit feel more special. I love a high + low look, and it's perfect for dressing up a tee shirt & jeans for a night out. The sequins make you shimmy.

in her casa: I bought this light fixture while visiting a girlfriend in Philly many years ago. It's from an old supper club, and it still has the mechanism to spin! I love the way it reflects color and light, and I love its imperfections. It hangs in my dining room in LA now, but I dream of hanging it over my bath tub one day.

Thanks Shana!

who: Leah Duncan, Illustrator/Designer

why leah rocks: I'm in love with Leah's illustrations, especially her quirky tea towels and art prints!

in her closet: I love this Madewell dress because of its pretty blue toned pattern and simple silhouette. I can wear it to the market with sandals or dress it up with accessories and heels in the evening.

in her casa: This vase is a hand-me-down from my grandmother. I can't quite put my finger on when I became obsessed with everything polka dot, but I'm pretty sure it all started with this vase.

Thanks Leah!

{closet & casa} with the rhoads...

who: Chris & Sarah Rhoads, Photographers

why the rhoads rock: They're simply a cool couple with great style who love to take beautiful photos.

in sarah's closet: I am such a fan of my bag from Madewell. It's functional with a lot of space. This is important because I can be found carrying a variety of miscellaneous camera's on me at any given moment. I also love the color palette—it goes with everything I own. It's subdued but still has a little bit of pop of color with the reds & blues. Since I mostly wear solids, the bag is a great accent piece that isn't over the top!

in sarah's casa: These Eames House Blocks were given to us by a good friend of ours last Christmas. Being a huge fan of the Charles & Ray Eames, I naturally thought these little blocks {modeled after their Case Study House No. 8} were totally ingenious. The playful spirit behind them only adds to their charm.

in chris's closet: What I dig these boots because they are a great balance of utility & comfort. They are hand-sewn, made of full-grain leather, and have a furry sheepskin interior. These moccasins/boots are basically the love child of a work boot and a slipper.

in chris' casa: Sticking with the Eames theme we have going here, Sarah & I have always wanted an authentic Eames Lounge. About four years ago—after searching high & low for the perfect Eames in brazilian rosewood—we came across an early authentic 70's model that we couldn't pass up. It's been in our home ever since, and it's the one piece that we will likely have in our home until the day we die.

Thanks guys!

{closet & casa} with catherine sheppard...

who: Catherine Sheppard, Fashion stylist and owner of The Life Styled

why catherine rocks: She taught me how to detox my closet & how to wear the most appropriate clothes for my body type/personality!

in her closet: I stumbled upon this white and gold beaded frock at a vintage store in LA when I was frantically looking for a dress to wear to a black tie event in Vegas—quite a daunting task! I instantly fell in love with the white and gold sequins and intense shoulder pads, and I scored it for about $40! I can't top that.

in her casa: Our living room was in need of a mini-makeover so I brought in a fuzzy faux fur blanket {we all fight over its coziness on a daily basis} and a few glamorous accents. I brought home every sparkly pillow I could find and played mix and match until I decided on my favorites. It's a fun game...everyone should try it!

Thanks Catherine!

{closet & casa} with anabela carneiro...

who: Anabela Carneiro, Typesetter and Co-Owner of Fieldguided

why anabela rocks: Her simple and bold statement totes make for the perfect everyday bag.

in her closet: I recently worked on a special project with clothing designer Gillian Tennant, and she sent me this blouse as a thank you. The silk material and drape are so beautiful—it's diaphanous, subtle, and the colors match my aesthetic perfectly.

in her casa: We create dip-dyed bags for Fieldguided. So when I came across this pendant lamp, I obsessed about it until I ordered it. It creates a lovely, soft light, and looks very pretty hanging in my bedroom.

Thanks Anabela!

{closet & casa} with lauren merkin...

who: Lauren Merkin, Handbag Designer

why lauren rocks: I love her evening clutches. This little metallic one is perfect for date night!

in her closet: When I saw the beautiful fabric and the classic silhouette of this Marc by Marc Jacobs dress, I immediately fell in love. It feels like it could have been an incredibly lucky vintage store discovery. The chocolate, slate grey, and gold create an unusual palette. The metallic adds a richness that is still subtle enough for daytime. And—the best part—it's as comfortable as it is gorgeous.

in her casa: My grandmother’s silver, Wallace Grande Baroque from the 40s, is one of my most treasured possessions. I particularly love the salad servers and the contrast of the wood and the intricate silver work. Generally my taste in interiors is quite modern and minimalist, but I love the texture, femininity, and history these add to the table. It's also incredibly special to use something so luxurious every day.

Thanks Lauren!

{closet & casa} with jessica comingore...

who: Jessica Comingore, Designer & Photographer

why jessica rocks: She always has wonderful roundups and recipes over on her blog!

in her closet: I'm definitely a minimalist at heart, but when I'm feeling adventurous, I love to punch up my basics with a bit of metallic. When I spotted these gold oxfords at Forever 21 a few months back, I scooped them up immediately and haven't taken them off since.

in her casa: I found this mid-century lamp on a hunt through the Rose Bowl Flea Market a few years back, and it might just be my favorite piece in my apartment. I love the mix of materials, and it's got just enough patina to tell a good story.

Thanks Jessica!
