RAD Pop-up Card DIY / Oh Joy

RAD Pop-up Card DIY / Oh Joy

One of my favorite things as a kid were pop-up books and pop-up cards. There's something about seeing something flat become dimensional that is so fun. Even now as an adult, I still love getting pop-up cards from people.

So, today, we're showing you how to make this RAD pop-up card for anyone you think fits the description (maybe even mom for upcoming Mother's Day!). Simply watch the video, download the template below to make one, then decorate it to your heart's content!

ruby's big girl room... 7 Apr 2014

Oh Joy for Nod / Ruby's Room

The last time you guys saw Ruby's room was over 2 years ago. She was only 4 months old and so, so tiny! She's now a smart and sassy toddler ready for a big girl room of her very own. See our video at the very end to see the transformation from a baby room to a big girl room and Ruby's reaction when she saw it all...

Oh Joy for Nod / Ruby's Room

We switched out her crib for a twin size bed that sits pretty low to the ground. It's safe to say Ruby's been pretty obsessed with her bed ever since and sometimes asks for a "time out" just so she can go lay in her bed.

We kept all the original storage we got for the room when she was a baby including Oeuf's Mini Library and those vintage dressers I got from Craig's List. We just updated her storage bins a bit and added some Oh Joy lamps to light the way.

She was pretty excited to play in her room and roll around on the rug. I swear, add a teepee into any kid's room, and they go crazy for it!

We also updated her windows with more streamlined darkening shades that you switch from light to dark in minutes and makes the transition from nap time to awake time so much better.

Oh Joy for Nod / Ruby's Room

I'd say Ruby was pretty happy with the whole thing, and we're excited to have a room she'll love for years to come...

extra ordinary ornaments... 12 Dec 2013

One of my favorite things to make during the holidays are ornaments to decorate the Christmas tree. Whether you make one to put on a gift or you make a bunch to cover the tree, each ornament is like a little present in itself. This year, I wanted to challenge myself to make ornaments out of everyday materials. So here we have some "extra ordinary" ornaments made from things you'd find around the house or can get at a local discount store. It's fun to see how they transform into something more beautiful...

These would be fun to make with kids, too!

a sweet thanksgiving... 13 Nov 2013

Oh Joy | A Sweet Thanksgiving Cone-a-copia

One of my favorite holidays is coming up: Thanksgiving! This holiday brings together family and friends to celebrate all the wonderful things that happened this year over delicious food and lots of merriment. Plus, it jump-starts the holiday season and includes some of my favorite foods to indulge in. This year, we're hosting Thanksgiving at our house, so I wanted to come up with some simple ways to decorate the Thanksgiving table for guests using something sweet and unexpected—ice cream cones!

You can watch the how-to video below on how to make a cone-a-copia, napkin ring, and place card holder all using ice cream cones. This is my favorite video to date, so I hope you guys enjoy it!

a little trailer + your thoughts on video... 25 Sep 2013

Since I've been working on more videos lately, I decided to make a trailer to tell about some of the things you'll be seeing on my YouTube channel. I know videos can be tough to get into (sometimes you're at work and can't watch them or you're trying to watch from your phone but don't have great wifi) but I hope you guys will stay tuned as we develop more Oh Joy videos in the months to come.

Speaking of videos...I'd love to know more about whether you actually watch these videos (or any others online). Do you like videos, not like them, prefer short ones, etc? If you have a few minutes, I'd love your feedback in this little survey. Thanks so much!

three ways to wear black & white pattern... 19 Sep 2013

I love wearing pattern, and I am often asked how to wear bold prints when you're scared of pattern or overwhelmed with how to mix them. So, I decided to show you three different ways to incorporate pattern in your everyday wardrobe with a focus on one of fall's trends—black & white. It's all here in my first style video ever! I hope you guys enjoy it!

To see more Oh Joy videos, please subscribe to my YouTube channel.

See all sources for the outfits below. For any items over $50, I included budget-friendly versions as well!
