Little-flower-school1

Last night, I attended the first LA workshop by Sarah & Nicolette of Brooklyn's Little Flower School. I've been a huge fan of their work for a long time so it was so fun to have a night to learn some floral tips and tricks from them at the Ban.do studio. At the work tables, we were greeted with our own vase to use for the night's arrangement, a floral frog, our own set of shears, some sweet treats, and of course, a mini Ban.do heart {from our hosts for the night}.

And then, this table full of the flowers we could work with. I felt my heart racing...like a kid in a candy shop...

Nicolette and Sarah gave us the 411 on all the flowers and then had demo of their process and how we should work layer by layer, creating "moments" of color and shape in the florals.

Finally, by the end of the evening, we all had an arrangement {mine shown above} of our very own. As a graphic designer, I had a hard time with the organic process and not having things so precise. But that's exactly what I love about their style and why I loved their class so much. There's theory and shape and color to be considered, but a lot of it is just going with what feels right and evolving it as it goes. SO much fun! Thanks again to Nicolette & Sarah for the awesome class! — Joy

I can't believe we're just weeks away from Christmas {and I have yet to decorate my tree}! Hope you've enjoyed and gotten some gift-giving inspiration from our seven gift guides over the last couple weeks! While I whip out the tree and start humming Christmas carols, in contrast, I'm leaving you today with a few of my favorite summery buds. Peonies seem to be in season right now in LA, so here's a little group chilling in some geek chic vessels that a certain Secret Stylist gave us. It's just a tiny peek at what you'll see when our home makeover episode airs in the spring! Have a great weekend everyone!

This week's flowers found themselves popping into this little hen vessel that my friend Peggy gave us as a housewarming gift. With a gold beak and a polka-dotted coat, this little hen needed nothing else but a jacket of fresh blooms to complete her outfit...
