Pretzel-pool-float

Last year, Wildfox had an image of a girl on a soft preztel floatie in their summer lookbook, and I just about died when I saw it. It's kind of perfect {especially for this Philly girl who loves soft pretzels} for a lazy summer day. This floatie is now available at Urban Outfitters, and I'd get it in two seconds if I had a pool to lounge around in. Someone please let me live vicariously through you and fill your pool with a bunch of these! — Joy

{outside/inside} modern pink pop... 14 Jun 2012

Outside-modern-pink-pop

When I lived in Brooklyn, I'd walk by beautiful brownstones at night and see glimpses of the homes, wondering about the families that lived there, what the inside looks like, and how it's decorated. Now that I live in Silver Lake in LA, there are even more types of eclectic homes to dream about. I love the idea of imagining how a home might be decorated on the inside based on it's exterior style, so today, we're starting a new column called Outside/Inside. Joanna, who spends her days as a home designer at Anthropologie and works on food posts here on Thursdays, will now be exploring this juxtapostion of inside and out every other week. We hope you it not only stirs your curiousity about homes you see, but also inspires some design ideas for your own home...

I'm thrilled to share the new print shop from stylist and Polaroid photographer extraordinaire, Jen Gotch. Long before meeting Jen, I admired her polaroid work from a far and always wished she sold prints. Well, Oh Snap by Jen Gotch is here, and I could seriously fill a whole wall with her colorful and dreamy images {Ruby has this one in her room!}. And, an added bonus, all prints are sized to fit readily available frames. Jen used frames from Ikea, West Elm, and Michaels for images shown here... — Joy

virtual window shopping... 20 Mar 2012

With so much amazing shopping sites these days, I do find myself shopping online a lot more. But I do miss the window shopping aspect and the merchandising that you usually only get when visiting brick and mortars. There's something about a well-curated shop that tells a story and sucks you into their retail experience. That's why I love Gretel's new spring "windows". Set in Jenny Brillhart's studio, they depict what the windows of Gretel might look like this spring if it were an actual physical shop...moody with color peeking through...  — Joy

I love collecting cups and mugs—especially those that come in a series and have multiple versions that all work together...like siblings in cup form. In keeping with the theme of those surprise sunnies from earlier this week. These new espresso cups and mugs by Pigeon Toe are so, so fun. I love the idea of every family member having their own special color... — Joy

...when can I move in? This year we're beginning oh-so-fun and very adult process of saving for a house. After paying off years of debt from Bob's med school/residency years and my early self-employment days, we're finally at a place where our extra dough can get stored away for a home where our little family can grow. Now, being in LA, saving for a house really does not happen overnight, but a girl can dream right? These spaces {all with amazing outdoor spaces} by Jamie Bush have me in serious home lust mode... — Joy

I love seeing some my favorite designer's and illustrator's work applied to various materials. So, of course, I am loving this new capsule fabric collection by Rifle for Villa Nova. Anna's signature floral is bursting with color and whimsy, and it looks so good upholstered on a chair or made into pillows and paired with other bright geometric patterns. Congrats Anna! — Joy
