I recently purchased this beautiful exhibition catalogue for my mom's birthday gift featuring the colorful, Rorschach Test-like photograms of flowers by the esteemed Los Angeles-based conceptual photographer, James Welling. Welling placed the blossoms of a common southern California plant on sheets of 8x10 film and exposed them to light. The negatives were then projected onto special photo paper through a color mural enlarger and color filters, to produce the dramatic, spectral, almost sun- or moon-dappled images reproduced here. Love this book, Blue to Blue by Katsumi Komagata. The picture book tells the story of a salmon's travels by using different colors and textures in the pages.

polaroid of a small cake

I had a photo shoot the other day for a client and put together this little cake which made me so happy. The cake was not the focus of the shoot, so we took a polaroid so I could preserve the sweetness forever. And, rest assured, the cake was quickly devoured soon after!

Wow...these image are completely mesmerizing...the contrast of over-saturated colors with completely desaturated backgrounds...just gorgeous!

I'm sure I'm not alone in this...but after hearing Feist's "1234" song on the new Ipod Nano commercial...I am hooked. Upbeat, jazzy folk, and just plain pretty...it seriously makes any day better...see the technicolor video here...
