Happy 2006!

Happy new year everyone! I've got a new header and some new surprises planned, as well as some of my previously favorite topics such as...inspirations, home + fashion favorites, my own works in progress, and designer interviews. Wishing you all a 2006 filled with new and exciting things!

Yay! Kate!

I'm supposed to be on a break, but just wanted to share this great Kate Spade ad for those of you who have not yet seen it. Great color, great photo, simply just great...

happy holidays!

wishing a wonderful holiday to you all...thanks for reading & supporting this blog over the past few months. i'll be back in 2006 with more to share...all the best until then!

Finding inspiration in old things...

Spent a day packing up my old room in my parents' house before their move and found lots of cool stuff. Some junk...some happy reminders of my past...and some simple inspirations that I'm glad I stumbled across.

Cool, old book covers {above}...

...some of my old artwork...loving these colors still...

...postcard and poster by Degas and other (unknown) painter...

...more old artwork...some black & whites...

...and, random things I've saved for their design...like sugar packets from Starbucks in Thailand and old Fresh Samantha bottles.

get organized for 2006!

With every new year, we try and become even better versions of ourselves...we want to be more healthy, nicer, happier, and almost perfect in every way possible. Even if you return to your same old ways by March, the new russell+hazel collection will really help you exude that stylishly perfect, organized-chic appeal that many of us seek. Their new catalog is beautifully shot and has a slight "Kate Spade meets Coach feel". Their new Audrey collection (which launches soon) looks wonderful too!

Cool Shop of the Week: Tinsel Trading Company

During my jaunt to New York last week, Lara introduced me to a great little shop called The Tinsel Trading Company. From the outside, it looks like a typical trimming/craft shop typical of New York's Fashion District, but inside lies a wonderful mix of home goods, decorative items, and a ribbon/trim/fabric shop. They have the most adorable mini Christmas trees too. For those not in New York, Tinsel Trading also has a website!

Cool Discovery of the Week: Art School Dropout

Love the crafty, yet completely chic feel of these Juxtapose necklaces by Art School Dropout. There are plenty of other great finds too...from bag, scarves, and paper goods...all hand-made and one-of-a-kind.

{NOTE: After January 8th, Art School Dropout will be completely restocked and refreshed with more items. So, if something you like is currently sold out...more to come in January!}

Inspirations this week...

With the holiday season in full swing, my inspirations this week are taking a cue...a lovely felted stocking, layers and layers of handmade greetings, glowing candlesticks and string lights, and personalized tags and placecard holders...

{all inspiration images this week are from the December issue of Living Etc.}

Ribbon adventures: New York edition

Yesterday, I spent a few hours in New York for a meeting. I had some spare time and visited a couple of my favorite ribbon stores in the Fashion District. What great colors, textures, and inspiration...how I wish I had shops around Philly like this! Here are my finds from Mokuba and M+J Trimming. It may sound crazy, but I could really stare at these ribbons for hours! Also, Snow & Graham has some lovely holiday wrapping paper out, pictured below as well...
