personal history - part III

For this week's Self Portrait Tuesday, here's a sequence which shows the introduction of a sibling into my happy 8-year-old life. I'm in a dark hospital room after my mom has given birth. I'm not happy at all...because I know my life of being the only child is forever gone--AND I got a brother, instead of a sister. Luckily for my brother, he was the cutest damn kid ever. (see bottom photo) And he turned out to be a really great guy as a grown-up...

I think I have a problem...

Beth and I are always having conversations with one another about our favorite magazines and how much we love them. I knew I was an avid magazine reader, but over the past few months it's really dramatically increased (aka. gotten out of control)...let's keep count...

2 ~ I was never into bridal magazines before getting engaged, but now that I am engaged...I have to take in as much information as possible before I am no longer part of the "bride-to-be" market
3 ~ I can write them off on my taxes as "research & supplies"
4 ~ It's part of my job to keep up on trends, design, fashion, etc...

Tell me your list of magazines and make me feel better...

A must read...

For those of you thinking of, in the process, or already fully into starting your own business, The Girl's Guide to Starting Your Own Business is a must! I bought this book last year through a recommendation I read somewhere and had put it aside until the other day. As I am now in the process of getting some new (& real!) businesses started, I've picked it back up...and I'm so happy I did. Despite the girl-power title and cover, this book gives very useful and practical info. for those who need the basics of how to start...some legal & financial issues, as well as useful information on writing a business plan. It's a fun & easy read and a good stepping stone to the more serious information you might need later. I highly recommend!
