happy friday + pink perfection...

Carolyn-quartermaine-hotel-delos-paris

Confession: I used to hate pink with a passion. Even as a little girl, I never liked pink or chose to wear anything in the girl-centric color. Now, I fully embrace it...especially in bright, hot shades and when used sparingly as an accent to a room or outfit. I love these bits of pink throughout the Hotel Delos in Paris as decorated by Carolyn Quartermaine. Have a great weekend all!

{taste it}: cherimoya...

Cherimoya3

The cherimoya may look like something out of Fred Flinstone's pantry, but it's actually a tropical fruit native to the Andean-highland valleys of Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador and Peru. Found at my local farmer's market, the fleshy fruit is soft and sweet and, to me, tastes like a cross between an Asian Pear and a melon, with the slight texture of a banana. It's creamy and almost custard-like and probably one of the oddest fruit textures I've ever had.

Due to it's banana-like consistency, I decided to make a smoothie out of it. With a mix of the fruit {sans seeds}, ice cubes, milk, and a splash of lime, my cherimoya smoothie tasted like a tropical, almost pina colada-like, icy treat.

...love these photos shot by Lee Clower during Cynthia Rowley's Resort 2011 show. In honor of the travel theme, the show took place in front of the Condé Nast building on the sidewalk in Times Square. So the editors simply came downstairs to see the show. In the meantime, Lee {and the runway models} set up an impromptu backdrop on the back of a parked bus. I love these fun, spur-of-the-moment images that resulted...
