Who Brandon and Dawn Davis, founders of 19 Charles Street, a membership-based gourmet food and farmers market delivery service in New York City.

Where Cooked and enjoyed in the 19 Charles Street "test kitchen," located in our home in the West Village.

What's a typical lunch for you? Today it's classic spaghetti and meatballs with a Blue Ribbon Bakery baguette and grated Grana Padano cheese. The meatball recipe is from Stuzzicheria in Tribeca and was featured on 19 Charles Street. Our lunches are usually like dinners because we're testing recipes for the business. They feature seasonal, local ingredients that we pick up from the farmers market or specialty stores.

What's your dream lunch?
Brandon: The Big Paulie, a proscuitto, mozzarella, and sun-dried tomato sandwich form Luca Brasi's in Hoboken, New Jersey.
Dawn: The warm baby spinach and mushroom salad from Koi. I'm a mushroom nut and this is my favorite incarnation!

Dessert with lunch?
Brandon: Never!
Dawn: We include something sweet with each of our deliveries — today I'm having an apple cider donut form Race Farm Bakery.

why britni rocks: Even though I'm not married yet, the designs that Brittni and the folks at BHLDN have created give me loads of inspiration for that someday.

in her closet: I have a weakness for crinoline, and this dance costume from the 1930's is the perfect mix of color, texture, and pattern. I love the chevron stripes and gold banding on the mint green skirt. It's a little tattered in places, but that only makes me love it more. I like to think a magnificent dancer with the Ballets Russes once donned this little ditty.

in her casa: Italian pottery is on my shortlist of things I love to collect, and this handsome pair was found at the Antique Showplace on 25th street in Manhattan. You wouldn't believe some of the gems I've uncovered there. The hand-painted gold leaf and etched surface makes this piece so charming and unusual.

neapolitan pizza paradise in {los feliz}...




Ever since moving to the West Coast a couple years ago, I've found that there are a some East Coast staples that are pretty hard to reproduce over here...really good pizza being one of them. Just last week, a new neapolitan style pizzeria opened right by us, and my pizza cravings can now be fulfilled. Being the pizza fanatic that I am {we embarked on an all-day self-initiated pizza tour of New York before we moved out here}, I'm pretty psyched about Mother Dough being just minutes away. The neapolitan style pizza is thin in the middle, doughy around the edge, chewy, yet a bit crisp and toasty from the 850 degree oven. The melted buffalo mozzarella sits on top fresh San Marzano tomato sauce for what tastes like the perfect mix of chewy and crispy crust, fresh and light sauce, and gooey mozzarella cheese. This place is sure to become a regular for us. — Joy

I'm not sure why...but after a lifetime of being lukewarm about french toast, I'm finding myself loving it a lot lately. Whether it's the doughnut kind, the s'mores kind, or topped with caramelized bananas & hazelnut cream {like this one from Square One}, the morning breaded sweet has definitely become a new staple... — Joy
