{closet & casa} with bri emery...

We decided to switch it up this week and show you a few items from yours truly...here we go!

who: Bri Emery, Graphic DesignerBlogger, and Oh Joy contributor!

in my closet: These green leather platforms with de-bossed polka dots really captured my heart when I was strolling through Shareen Vintage one day. They sure aren't the easiest shoes on the planet to walk in, but they are displayed nicely on my dresser when they're not being worn.

in my casa: You know that White Elephant game that's played during the holidays as a fun way to exchange gifts? Well, these pink and gold vintage glasses were snagged by me in one very feisty round last Christmas. They are perfect for having girlfriends over for cocktails and when you're feeling fancy.

a little german snack in {silver lake}...

I love finding neighborhood spots that do one thing really well. Berlin Currywurst in Silver Lake whips up daily doses of German sausage {aka currywurst} just like they do on the streets of Germany, perfect for a little snack or a full-on meal. My favorites are the hand-cut fries, the signature sausages, and the sauerkraut salad... — Joy

my new favorite breakfast sandwich...

I'll admit...I have a serious love of McDonald's Egg McMuffin breakfast sandwiches. They're always a treat I save for when traveling and at the airport during those early morning hours. Since having one regularly wouldn't be the best, I often make my own version at home. Currently my favorite versions includes an egg, sliced avocado, salt, pepper, and {an extra special ingredient} tzatziki sauce on a lightly toasted english muffin. With it's light, creamy texture and thin pickled cucumbers, the tzatziki adds the perfect extra kick! — Joy

brunch times two in {los angeles}...

It was a fun-filled weekend with our amazing baby shower and some friends in town visiting to celebrate the day with us. Our usual one-brunch-out-per-weekend turned into two with a visit to two spots that I'd never been to for brunch and only previously enjoyed for dinner. On Saturday, brunch at Little Dom's started off the day...my favorites were the Oven Roasted French Toast Soufflé and the Fried Potatoes...which were perfectly soft and crispy in every way possible {top two photos}. Sunday, we stopped at Jar and loved the house Morning Buns and the Lobster Benedict with char sui pork, pea tendrils, and lobster béarnaise {bottom two photos}. If only brunch days were every day... — Joy

happy friday + feeling thankful...

Phew! It's the end of another great week. So glad that those of you on the East Coast weren't hurt by that unexpected earthquake. With our baby shower this weekend, I can't help but feel so grateful for this baby that we've been blessed with. When it comes to that time in your life when you're ready for a baby, I know it doesn't come right away for everyone. While we didn't have a terribly long road, Bob and I certainly had some bumps along the way {with an early miscarriage last winter}. So we're ever so grateful that to now be blessed with this little one on the way to call our own. I have what seems like so friends in my life right now who are experiencing the sadness or disappointment of not getting pregnant or also miscarrying, and I try my best to keep reminding them that, just like everything else, it really does work out in the end. Sorry to get all mushy, but it's one of those things so many go through and not everyone talks about. And so, it really reminds me to continue to be thankful for the great things I have in life and to be here able to share it with all of you. Have a great weekend guys... — Joy

Ps. Congrats to #922 Tina P. from Toronto for winning the Club Monaco giveaway!
