{make it} coconut custard jello...

My mom's been in town from Philly spending time with her new granddaughter and helping us around the house with her Thai home cooking! Those of you who follow me on Twitter may know that I had my gallbladder removed on Monday due to pregnancy-induced gallstones {no fun!}. Thankfully, I'm on the mend and doing well...but had to go light with soups and easily digestible foods for the past couple days. With jello being one of those go-to recovery foods, my mom made the Thai version and one of my childhood favorites...coconut custard jello!

It may sound and look odd if you've never tried it, but it tastes like salted caramel and coconut...with the perfect mix of sweet and salty in jello form. It's SO easy to make that I had to share with you guys. Just like regular jello, all you need are these two packets, Coconut Agar and Custard Agar dessert mixes. Follow the directions for each, laying first the coconut into a few small bowls. Let the coconut layer solidify before adding the custard layer, then cut and cube when it's set! It looks pretty fun too! — Joy

{closet & casa} with harper poe...

who: Harper Poe, Owner of Proud Mary

why harper rocks: I am pretty much in love with her shop full of colorful totes and striped pillows. And this looks like the perfect weekend tote!

in her closet: This silk dress from Armani Exchange is one of my favorites. I don't usually go for such feminine pieces but the coral and red with a pop of metallic gold in this dress drew me in immediately.  I studied in Spain in college so this dress reminds me a of a Flamenco dress...which I adore!

in her casa: I'm constantly rotating pillows in and out but, right now, I'm letting our coral Diamante and Cirque pillows have a little time to shine. I love the balance between the subtle brocaded diamond pattern and bold black & white stripe especially against the dark taupe wall in my bedroom.

Thanks Harper!

lovely layering...

One thing I've always wished I was better at is layering. Not just a top and a bottom, but lighter layers, jackets, scarves, and other pieces that make an outfit look more complete and more fun. Inspired by a trip down the California coastline, Club Monaco's spring collection {out in January} totally inspires some layering ideas while mixing gorgeous pale shades of flowy fabrics with more tailored pieces as well. — Joy

feeling cozy glam...

With the chillier temperatures lately, all I wanna do is snuggle up in soft tees and sweats and love the idea of glamming up the cozy with some accents of gold... — Joy
