friendly fabrics...

In the spirit of giving, I'm always a fan of products and shops that give a little bit back in some way. Kara Weaves, a hand loom weaving venture with a social cause, supports and promotes cotton hand loom cooperatives in Kerala, India. In addition to the amazing colors and fun patterns, the fabric is made of an age old pure cotton weave, used as a towel, with an extraordinarily absorbent yarn and quick drying properties. They're re-purposed and re-designed this fabric into bathrobes, hair wraps, table lines, table cloths and more. — Joy

happy friday + 2 months of ruby...

Happy Friday guys! It was so fun meeting some of you last night at the West Elm party! It was my first fancy night out in two months since Ruby was born. Time has flown by like crazy, and I can't believe she's two months already. Her smile makes my day complete, and her rolls are better than the ones you'd get at a French bakery. Inspired by Nicole, I've been tracking her growth monthly, and can't wait to see them all together in a year. Some of you have been asking...and I swear {swear} I'm gonna post photos of her room after the holidays...the break will give me a chance to finally take some photos of it! Hope you all have an amazing last-weekend-before-Christmas! — Joy

a colorful year...

As we approach the end of 2011 {where did the time go?}, thoughts of 2012 come to mind...how can we make it bigger, better, and more fun than the last year? The new year can certainly be more colorful with these calendar/prints-in-one by Erin of The Indigo Bunting. Each month is super frame-worthy, and I love the way they all look together in a grid! — Joy

hungry girls...

When I cook from cookbooks, I can't make a recipe that doesn't have a photo. I'm not sure why, but the photo gets me more excited about the dish and gives a cue as to what it should look like in the end. So, I'm always a sucker for beautifully photographed cookbooks like these. Three friends in Australia handmade, designed, and wrote a gorgeous series of eclectic cookbooks called The Hungry Girls' Cookbooks. I love the comforting recipes, beautiful photos, and sweet illustrations. Each copy is been hand-bound with cloth and hand sewn in Australia...surely, with love... — Joy

{closet & casa} with jordan ferney...

who: Jordan Ferney, Blogger

why jordan rocks: She always has the best DIY craft posts! My favorite being this golden alligator pinata!

in her closet: I love this vintage dress I got off Etsy. It's a beautiful heavy linen and the pattern looks handpainted.

in her casa: I found this Cameroon Juju hat at a Paris flea market for a steal. It adds a great pop of color and it reminds me of the bright red flowers on the dress.

Thanks Jordan!
