pop-up place cards...

Oh Joy | Pop-Up Placecards

Ever since I was a kid, I've loved pop-up books. Maybe it's because I was always meant to be a graphic designer, or maybe it's because I just love seeing something flat go from two dimensions to three dimensions with a couple cuts and folds. As we head into the holiday season, I've got some fun posts coming up with ideas for bringing cheer to your dinner table this holiday and year-round, and for the first one, I wanted to apply my love of pop-ups to some fun placecards for your holiday table.

Here's how to make them...

Oh Joy | Pop-Up Placecards

1. Download the template by clicking right here (or the image below) and print each page for one set of four placecards. You'll want to use a thicker paper stock, like HP Cover Paper, so that your placecard stays upright and sturdy.

2. Cut out your placecards with an X-Acto blade. Cut on the solid lines and fold on the dotted line (I like to use a bone folder to make a neat score). Also, when you cut the heart part, try and stay slightly inside the lines so that none of the guide mark shows on your pop-up heart.

3. Write the name of your guest in the blank space, and voilà!

If you want to go full-on holiday, use just the red and green version—but you can use these any time of year with the full set!
