Cake Portraits / Make & Give

Housewarming Gift / Make & Give

Macaron Messages / Make & Give

Candy Necklaces / Make & Give

My talented friend, Erin Jang of The Indigo Bunting, recently released her first book with Steph Hung called Make & Give: Simple and Modern Crafts to Brighten Every Day. It's a little slice of whimsy with the projects they show you how to make, and I love the sweetness behind each one. A few of my favorites include these cake portraits, housewarming gift, macaron messages, and candy necklaces. The book comes with a bunch of templates too, drawn in Erin's quirky and graphic signature style with fun projects that are perfect for making with kids, too!

Oh Joy Candy Apples

With fall in full swing, we've been all about autumn treats lately. Pumpkin-everything, hot cocoa, and apples on sticks. Here's our version of the candied apple with a few our favorite toppings!

happy friday + a few more maternity photos...

Oh Joy Maternity Photos by The Fox and the Sparrow

Oh Joy Maternity Photos by The Fox and the Sparrow

Last month, I shared our last photos as a family of three. And a few weeks ago, I had a chance to take some solo maternity photos with the ladies of The Fox and the Sparrow who offer pop-up sessions all around the country. Since I never had maternity photos taken when I was pregnant with Ruby (and this is the last of our babies), I took the opportunity to capture my pregnancy in a different style than my usual—a little boho, a little vintage, and a little romantic.

They took care of hair and makeup, floral crowns, and wardrobe options. It makes it super easy to just show up and not have to worry about planning anything yourself. When you're 37 weeks pregnant, achy, peeing all the time, and super tired, it's just nice to let someone make you feel like a real babe. I'm writing this post a little sleep-deprived from a newborn and a little spent from a toddler who's getting used to said newborn. So it's fun to look back at these now and think I had no idea of all the love (and exhaustion!) that would soon come my way.

So, the moral of the story is...take some maternity photos and capture that amazing time however you feel comfortable doing it. I said I didn't want to do anything with a bare belly but we found ways to show off the belly without showing it all. Have a great weekend guys!

P.S. If you're interested in a future session with The Fox and the Sparrow, you can email [email protected] to be put on their wait list for 2015. They are planning on visiting Austin in the new year. They love to travel and open to other cities that people want them to come have a pop-up!

Oh Joy for Target Holiday Collection

Oh Joy for Target Holiday Collection

With the holidays just around the corner, we wanted to share a couple different ways to decorate this season with the newest Oh Joy for Target holiday collection. We showed how to set a table for fall, and now it's all about decorating your home for entertaining this holiday. So here's a little video we put together showing how you can decorate specifically for Christmas or for a festive wintry feel all season long.

P.S. Oh and keep sharing on Instagram, how you're using your Oh Joy goodies with #ohjoyfortarget! I love seeing them!

When having friends over for dinner (or even a weekend brunch), it’s nice to make something to display at their seat, and I love using seasonal flowers to make these floral place cards.

the best potato skins i've ever had...

Cheesy Cauliflower and Broccoli Potato Skins

For Ruby's birthday party, Heirloom LA whipped up their always amazing food with healthy and kid-friendly options. I was obsessed with these broccoli and cauliflower topped potato skins (the best potato skins I've ever had!) and loved that they had veggies on top to make them good for you too. I asked our friend at Heirloom LA to share the recipe with us today as these would make a great addition to Thanksgiving or even for a weekend football watching session. See below for the full recipe!

a rainbow of goblets {giveaway}...(NOW CLOSED)

Oh Joy for Target Goblets

Recently, we made this fun floral arrangement using all of the colorful plastic goblets all seasons of the Oh Joy for Target collection from this year and also arranged them in a single row for Ruby's 3rd birthday party. Since they look so pretty all together, we thought it would be fun to give away a full set of all 16. The goblets from spring, summer, and fall are no longer available for purchase, but we have one a full set we found in the studio (that includes the current holiday colorway) to give to one lucky Oh Joy reader today.

Oh Joy for Target Goblets

To enter, simply visit the Oh Joy for Target section of Target's website, and then leave a comment here telling me how you'd use these goblets if you won (a party for 16 of your friends, fill with party favors, etc...). Entries must be posted by this Friday, November 7th, at 9 a.m. PST, and one winner will be chosen at random*. Good luck!

UPDATE: Congrats to Letticia V. from Chico, CA for being our winner this time!

*Sorry, limited to U.S. readers only. Please do not leave your email or web address in the body of the comment, only in the allotted boxes. $16 USD total value. Winner will be contacted by email once comments close, and announced at the bottom of this post soon after.
