I hope you guys are having a great, long weekend! I usually don't post on holidays, but I have so much I want to share after being away that I decided to post today ;)
Before I had kids, I would eat like five meals a day when on vacation to take advantage of all the amazing food in a new city. We couldn't quite go on a non-stop food tour of Seattle with the kids but we did make sure to have some fun meals, snacks, and a loooot of ice cream...
The Wandering Goose - When I heard this place had biscuit sandwiches, I knew I'd fall in love. And I did. Especially with this fried chicken and biscuit sandwich drizzled with honey and spicy pickles. SO. GOOD. (Afterwards, I got a great iced latte from Victrola next door).
Rachel's Ginger Beer - I discovered ginger beer when I was pregnant with Ruby and needed something bubbly to calm my nausea. It's like ginger ale but with real ginger and extra zingy. Rachel's Ginger Beer makes a ton of fruity versions including blood orange, blueberry, and white peach. We visited a couple locations, one which serves fries, and both which offer fun cocktails made with their homemade ginger beer.
Oddfellows Cafe — We met up with my friend, Elizabeth (who lives in LA, but happened to be in Seattle at the same time), at Oddfellows. It's kid-friendly but also still really, really good. And, they had the best meatball sandwich I've ever had.
Then, as we were walking down the street, we ran into Molly Moon! I blogged about Molly's ice cream book a few years ago, and was excited to finally try her amazing ice cream. I didn't think we'd literally bump into her on the street. It was a serious treat, and she let us taste test some new hot fudge recipes she's working on (Ruby happily obliged).
Molly Moon - In addition to the epic hot fudge, we loved Molly Moon ice cream. There are unique and fresh flavors with incredible toppings (these sprinkles are the prettiest, too!)
Hello Robin - We miiiight have had Molly's ice cream a couple other times that week, too. Because the Hello Robin cookie shop was just blocks from our rental house and they combined their homemade cookies with ice cream for the perfect ice cream sandwich. It's like what happens when freshly baked cookies hug ice cream...everyone is so, so happy.
Trove - We went to Trove for Korean BBQ and ice cream parfaits. The parfaits were SO good and worth going just for those. The one we got had orange frozen yogurt, toasted coconut, boba, mango, and a bunch of other things that made me want more immediately.
Serious Pie - I don't have a photo of this amazing pizza because the lighting wasn't great where we sat, but I do have this photo of Coco being very cute after eating said pizza. And, there's an awesome chalkboard pig that Ruby and my friend Jenny's son, Eli, loved drawing on after dinner.
Pike Place Market - No visit to Seattle is complete without munching on a bunch of random foods from Pike Place Market. We got some Mac n' Cheese from Beechers, fresh grilled corn and apple cider from a local stand, and freshly backed donuts.
After a couple hours at the market weaving in and out through tons of people, we were all pretty beat and ready for a nap!
There were so many places on my list we didn't get to go to but will be on my list for our next visit!
P.S. See what we did and where we stayed right here...
