How is it November already?!? To kick off the month, we're sharing a room we have NEVER done before...a boy's room! You might say..."Joy, boys want super heroes and monsters and sports-themed bedding!" And maybe they do. But if you're a mom like me who wants to design a room that will grow with them over time which they can add to as they please, we've got a super calm, cool, and collected boy's room for you today! When styling, here are three things to kept in mind...

1. Color scheme — We always start with a color scheme for any new room and didn't want to stick to the traditional "blue for a boy's room" color scheme. So instead, we focused on brighter shades of bluish green and yellow! We kept the furniture white to keep the room light and airy and sprinkled pops of bright yellow throughout with the rug, blanket, and decor.

2. Storage — Kids' rooms can get messy quick with toys and games, so we packed this room full with places to store items! We used a small cubby by the bed that can also double as a nightstand, vertical shelves that are open so kids can easily get toys and put them back, and wire baskets on the wall to store art supplies or games. When designing with storage, don't forget to utilize the walls! Vertical storage is one of our favorites especially for smaller spaces.

3. Not Kid Art — When styling kids' rooms, I love incorporating artwork that wasn't tailor made for children. Whether it's an abstract photograph or life-like painting, it helps the room feel just a tad grown-up and is a piece that can stay with them in their room for years to come.
