Dressing the Babe / Mama and Baby Style

Dressing the Babe / Baby Style

It's been a hot week here in LA, so we're pulling out our summer gear with lighter pieces that are bold and fun.

Dressing the Babe / Mama Style

I'm still wearing a ton of button-up shirts because they make nursing (and pumping at work!) so much easier. And, give me a good pair of elastic waistband shorts that don't look like PJ's, and I'll wear them every single day!

Mama outfit / 1. LemLem shirt, 2. Target chambray shorts, 3. Target sandals, 4. BebeAndMe teething necklace.

P.S. I love this little nugget!

Dressing the Babe / Mama and Kid Style

Lately, I've been loving light and wispy things. Maybe it's the summer air or the cool night breeze or the fact that it's just time to shed those winter layers and welcome a little more sunshine. I came across this romantic skirt that became the basis for an easy, yet pretty, outfit that's crazy-comfortable, too.

Dressing the Babe / Mama Style

When I'm running after my kids, being hands-free is super helpful. So anything that functions like a back-pack but doubles as a great bag in general makes it more worth investing in a nicer non-diaper bag type of bag.

Mama outfits / 1. Riley and Co. tee, 2. Darccy tulle skirt, 3. Clare V. backpack, 4. Target sandals, 5. LouLouLollipop Finery teething necklace.

If you've been reading this blog for a bit, you might know I like to shoot these Dressing the Babe style posts in front of graphic murals that we find around Los Angeles. It's a fun way to get to interact with public art, and it's a nice challenge for us to find ones I really love. But what happens with public art is that it doesn't last forever. We found this cool wall two weeks ago. And then this week when we showed up to take some photos...uh, it was gone! And just covered up with something new. But that's kind of how life goes, right? Sometimes you can plan and plan for things and some things are just not under your control. So you just make the best of it, and it all still works out in the end...!

dressing the babe / happy blue day...

Mama and Me Style

Mama and Me Style

Today, I turn 36! It's funny to think back to what I thought 36 would feel like. I remember when the mid-30's seemed so old and so far away, yet here I am feeling like I'm still 24. And, I have to say my 30's have been my favorite yet. I gained more confidence in myself and in my role in life. And I also started focusing on making myself and those I love happy instead of trying to make everyone happy (because it's kinda impossible, you know?). Either way, just a quick thanks for following along on this journey as I enter another year of life and learning!

At the start of every summer, I find myself in a blue phase. I'm not sure if it's the thought of the beach and the ocean or if I'm just feeling a little more mellow. But I'm currently loving blue in all shades. And with my flying babe in tow, we're channeling both the summery sky and the calm ocean today...

Mama Style / Maternity and Post-Baby

Oh, and I'm still loving maternity pieces even 7 months post-baby. You guys know I really tried to minimize my "maternity" wardrobe when I was pregnant, but there are some pieces that if you're going to buy them, you get so much more bang for your buck when you can wear them post-baby as well. This duster and dress are maternity but still super flattering to layer with (and comfy!) when not pregnant.

Mama outfit / 1. Hatch duster jacket, 2. Storq dress, 3. Dolce Vita booties, 4. Necklace by Crescioni, 5. Oh Joy for Solly baby wrap.

One-pieces on babies are my favorite thing ever, and Coco now has her own pair of our family's favorite summer sandals.

Dressing the Babe / Baby Style

You guys! Spring is here, and I couldn't be happier. To celebrate spring, we got decked out in a medley of neon pink and florals for a set of outfits that scream pure joy...

Dressing the Babe / Mama Style

The new Lilly for Target line is pretty much out-of-control cute. This dress feels like I'm wearing a night gown—it's so, so soft!

Since the only pink I really dress my girls in is hot pink, I had to give them a blast of neon in these poppin' pieces...

Babe Outfit / 7. Noé & Zoë tank, 8. Lilly Pulitzer for Target shorts (similar), 9. Pons Avarca sandals.

Dressing the Babe / Floral Pop

I've been loving the challenge of finding lots of street art here in Los Angeles, and this one by Kim West feels like we walked right into a gorgeous life-sized floral painting. And, those colors!

Dressing the Babe / Romp Around

Dressing the Babe / Romp Around

Rompers are one of those clothing pieces that we often associate with kids. But I'm all about the one-piecer, too. They're super comfy and make a fun statement, so Ruby and I romped around downtown LA recently in a couple of our faves.

Dressing the Babe / Mama Style

This mama romper is crazy comfortable. It's pretty much like wearing PJ's except the fit is pretty flattering, has nice drape, and it can be dressed up with heels or booties.

Mama outfit / 1. Michael Stars black romper, 2. Hy Jewelry necklace, 3. Emerson Fry slides, 4. J.Crew raffia bracelet, 5. J.Crew cuff (25% off with code SHOPNOW).

Dressing the Babe / Kid Style

The one tip about rompers for kids that I have to mention is that they're best either with babies who wear diapers OR kids who are fully potty-trained. Rompers take a little more time to take off and put on, so I usually avoid them during the potty-training stage!

Babe outfit / 6. Little Minis ikat jumper, 7. Hy Jewelry necklace (mommy & me set), 8. Target metallic shoes.

Dressing the Babe / Romp Around

Do you wear rompers for yourself, too? Or do you think they're best for kids?

Oh Joy / Dressing the Babe

Oh Joy / Mama and Me Style

Lately, I've been all about dresses that are comfy and easy-to-wear, yet still flattering. With that extra softness around my waist post-baby, I'm still avoiding tight (muffin-top-forming) jeans whenever possible. So I love it when I can throw on an easy piece like this and dress it up or down with flats or my favorite booties.

And, I'll always have a place in my heart (and my closet) for a good polka dot...

Oh Joy / Mama Style

Mama outfit / 1. Dotty dress from Anthropologie, 2. Homako necklace, 3. Dolce Vita booties.

Oh Joy / Baby Style

Since I rarely dress Coco in pink (unless it's hot pink) and find myself annoyed by the expectation from strangers that she should be wearing pink, I like keeping around some little hair clips. They are my small note to the world to tell people "Yes, she's a girl!".

dressing the babe / i'm blushing...

Oh Joy / Dressing the Babe

You don't know how happy it makes me that spring is on it's way! While I really can't complain about our weather, this extra hour of light we've had this week really makes such a difference. I feel like I get more hang time with my kids, and we're all feeling a bit sunnier in general.

Here's my take on a that romantic shade of blush that feels light and lovely and perfect for spring...

Oh Joy / Mama Style

I like making this very romantic color a little edgier with a bit of a bootie and some denim...

Dressing the Babe / Mama and Me Style

While we might still be okay with putting a bird on it, it's gotta be a bird of the exotic type these days. So here's my mini flamingo hanging with her mama swan in our cozy bird-inspired outfits.

Dressing the Babe / Funny Valentine

I know some people really hate Valentine's Day, but I love it because it gives me an excuse to wear red (a color I normally never wear) and dress my kids in things with hearts all over them.

And yes, my kid is sitting inside a bag. We all know kids like bags and boxes (and random tissue paper found in said bag) way better than toys ;P Happy Valentine's Day guys!

dressing the babe / winter pop...

Dressing the Babe / Mama and Me Style

Winter in Los Angeles is anti-climatic for sure. While the rest of the country (and other parts of the world) get to enjoy the brisk cold, we're lucky if we get to pop on a hat and scarf for a couple hours a day. With dark blue and faux fur as my wintry base, here's my version of an L.A. winter with a flash of color that you just can't miss.
