{fashioned florals} raspberry and cream...

Fashioned-florals-raspberry-and-cream

This raspberry and cream cake from Seven Spoons makes a perfect specimen to translate into florals, especially as the local flower market here in Austin had some incredible berry branches for the taking. Taking cues from the contrasting palette, I created this arrangement of crab apple branches, pink ranunculus, yarrow, cream tulips and the raspberry branches and tucked them into a unglazed ceramic vase to capture the modern-yet-rustic appeal. — Liz

{fashioned florals} electric dahlias...

Fashioned-florals-electric-dahlias

With the onset of fall comes dahlia season, which is always hotly anticipated by this flower lover. Inspired by both the vibrant colors and energetic brush strokes of of Yolanda Sanchez's Orange and Pink, I jumped at the chance to showcase the electric palette still available in seasonal flowers. A wild arrangement full of texture includes dahlias, celiosa, queen anne's lace, pink crepe myrtle, purple beautyberry, and orange trumpet vine and shows that fall can still pack a punch! — Liz

{fashioned florals} a yellow wildflower bouquet...

Fashioned-florals-summer-wildflower-bouquet

While fall is just around the corner, artist Bobbie Burger's bright, cheery summer cottage kitchen captures the best parts of the season: an abundance of natural light set against a simple white interior with a bold splash of yellow. I fashioned a loose bouquet that takes advantage of quintessential summer wildflowers in the same palette of white and vibrant yellow with cosmos, marigolds, chamomile, Queen Anne's lace with a touch of sage. — Liz

{fashioned florals} jewel tones...

Fashioned-florals-eric-blum-flowers

Inspired by this painting by Eric Blum, this week's florals rework the jewel-toned art into a cluster of  purple, fucshia, and burgundy blooms that contrast against a subdued background. Ranunculus, garden roses, carnations and dahlias sitting amongst begonia leaves and boston fern provide the visual pop while the neutral mercury glass vase fades into the back. — Liz

{fashioned florals} summer poppies...

We loved this guest post by Liz of The Nouveau Romantics so much that she'll now be a regular contributor to Oh Joy! Twice a month, Liz will create a floral arrangement inspired by an image from fashion, home, art, or food. So, please help me welcome Liz with her newest post...

I fashioned these florals after this summery Corey Lynn Calter dress. I wanted to capture the relaxed nature and essence of the dress through a loose, easy going arrangement of bright poppies set against a sea of greens using poppies, scented geranium, millet, boston fern, hanging amaranthus, and some sage. — Liz

fashioned florals...

Christine_Soccio_Esoteric_Floral

I love the idea of creating a little floral arrangement inspired by another piece of art, fashion, or decor. So, Liz of The Nouveau Romantics created this beautiful, richly colored floral bunch inspired by this Christine Soccio painting. Liz wanted to take advantage of the artist's use of color which translated into scabiosa, astilbe, ranunculus, garden roses, zinnia, honeysuckle vine, feverfew, and craspedia. I love the colors, the texture and they look just beautiful side-by-side... — Joy
