my {birthday party} uniform...

I recently attended and hosted a birthday party for friends, both of which require something fun and festive. If I'm attending a summer birthday party, I like to keep it casual with lightweight shorts and a cute patterned top {you don't want to outshine the birthday guy or gal on their special day!}

But if I am hosting the party, I like to kick it up a notch and get a little 50's with it—perhaps, a bright manicure and a polka dot dress? And, since you'll be running all around making sure everyone is happy, comfortable sandals that are still a little fancy are kind of a must! Bri

my {power meeting} uniform...

Joy and I are both freelancers which means our meetings might be a 9am phone conference in our pajamas, a 12 noon brunch, or at 5:30pm for cocktails before sunset—no day is ever the same.

I like to show my personality when I first meet a client, so that means most likely I'll be wearing bright and punchy colors. My version of a power meeting outfit shows that you can still look professional while mixing colors and patterns in a fun, yet sophisticated way...  Bri

my {tropical} uniform...

We're switching things up a bit over here at Oh Joy and have decided to bring the "Closet & Casa" series to a close. We've featured some amazing creatives and loved seeing their favorite items over the last year and a half. And now we're ready to change it up a bit. Bri will still be here on Wednesdays now with "My Uniform". Inspired by My Daily Uniform post, she'll be composing two outfits she'd wear for various occasions, themes, or destinations. We hope you like it! — Joy

I was just on a much-needed mini vacation in Mexico, and it was fun to switch up my normal style routine with some more festive options.

During the day, we walked around and shopped or headed to the beach, and I wore a pair of striped shorts & colorful flat shoes. It was so hot that all I needed was a sheer white top over my swimsuit.

In the evenings, these wide-leg white pants with a beaded top made a perfect dinner outfit. The patterned head scarf and yellow heels make the look more playful. Bri

my {daily} uniform...

As much as I'd love to say I wear a completely different outfit every day of the week, the truth is, I fall into a comfort zone and tend to have a couple "uniforms" that are my go-to's on a regular basis. Right now, I split my day between mom mode and work mode with these two sets of staples.

At home...I pretty much live in these StyleMint pants. They are so comfy for being home with the baby, but the best part is they don't look like pajamas. So if I have to pop out for a second, I'll put on some cute sandals and a slighty more feminine top like this one by Club Monaco.

When I head out {often for a meeting or breakfast with friends}...I'm all about well-tailored but comfortable pieces. Most often, I'm wearing a patterned top, a cropped blazer adorned with some Ban.do poms, a bright pair of jeans, and comfy but fun flats. So, friends...what's your go-to outfit? — Joy
