Sometimes we get so bogged down by the everyday—schedules, our usual workday, getting kids from school, making lunches, morning/evening commutes that we forget to try new things. This weekend, I want to break out of my usual routine and do some new things with the kids and just mix it up! How about you? Anything new you've been wanting to try and just need to go for?

Happy Friday! Are you as excited for the long weekend as I am? We've had kitchen renovations happening in our office over the last couple weeks. While it's so fun to see it move along, it's also very distracting to have it be right there so close that I just want to agonize and make sure every detail is being done correctly.
This week, two of the ladies on my team—Angie and Julia—both celebrated their four year anniversaries at Oh Joy! How time flies...they've been around since I expanded Oh Joy from being just me to an actual office and in-person team. I'm so grateful they are still here helping me and the rest of the team create amazing things. The best is yet to come!
Have a great LONG weekend all! We'll see you back here on Tuesday after the Memorial Day holiday.

Happy Friday, guys! What are you up to this weekend? I've got our usual routine of taking the kids to their weekend activities as well as some chill time with my fam. I'm hoping to squeeze in little vintage shopping this weekend and scour through beautiful patterns and colors for some inspiration time, too. Wishing you a great weekend, and I'll see you back here on Monday!

I'm not super domestic when it comes to home cooking. I like cooking and I would love cook more, but life and work often take over and I often get assistance when it comes to meal time. However, I still one day would love to have a signature dish. That one thing I know how to make without a recipe, that I can make well, and that I'd probably bring to every pot luck dinner because it's my go to. It doesn't have to be super fancy or complicated but something you just love and know inside out.
Do you guys have a signature dish? If so, what is it?

Happy Friday! If you follow Oh Joy on Instagram, you may have seen the #OhJoyPatternPlay posts I love to share over there. Here's a recent one I loved so much that I wanted to share a couple of the outtakes with you as well.
I bought this vintage floral blouse a few years ago and have had a hard time wearing it because it's a little big on me and has a cut that doesn't totally work for my body type. So had it in the studio ready to sell at our next yard sale. Julia found it and painted the pattern by hand on a large backdrop (doesn't it look like the coolest wallpaper?!). It looked so good that we tried a bunch of different versions for the pattern play shot and played up the florals on floral on florals! I love how ideas can be triggered by the simplest thing...
Have a great weekend all!

Happy Friday friends! We made this fun scene at the office the other day, and I love what it symbolizes. It could be about drawing "outside the lines" or thinking "outside of the box", but to me—right now, it symbolizes just trying something different. As we head into the weekend where we have our usual routine and plans, I can often get stuck in a rut of the same schedule, the same park to play at, and the same breakfast every weekend with my family. But this weekend, we're gonna switch it up and do some new things, take the kids to some new places, and just get out of that safety of the usual.
Hope you have a great weekend full of new things as well!

Happy Friday guys! The next few days are full of partying for me as both of my kids are having birthday parties this weekend. Ruby's having a small one and Coco is having a bigger one (with our close friends there, too). And then, on Monday, we're taking Ruby to DISNEYLAND as an extra special birthday treat! Even though we live only 45 minutes away, we've never been there before, so it should be pretty fun. I'm also going to need a nap after all of this.
Hope you guys have a great weekend—one that is way more relaxing then mine will be ;P
P.S. Thanks to those of you who have been joining me on Periscope—it's my new favorite social media app, and I love seeing you guys there! I'll be hopping on there today at some point (you can find me @ohjoy).

Holy crap you guys. This month, my blog and business turn TEN YEARS OLD. How on earth did that happen? When I hit publish on my very first blog post 10 years ago, I never thought I'd turn this site into part of my job, have a space to be able to reach and connect with so many of you, and to have the chance to share my ideas with the world. Even once I started blogging more seriously, I never thought I'd still be doing it 10 years later. THANK YOU for being here no matter how long or how short you've been following along...
I know you haven't all been following along since the beginning (but if you have please let me know who you are!). Because I love timelines, next week, I'll be sharing a little bit about where I've started and where I've come—both as a designer, blogger, business women, and as a person. I always enjoy seeing how people follow their paths and also what happens when their path changes into something they didn't expect (raises hand).
In the meantime, enjoy your weekend! I hope it's full of things that make you sparkle inside...

You guys! I'm going on vacation! I haven't been away on a real vacation (for more than a weekend) since Christmas of last year. So I'm excited to recharge my mind and my body and spend some uninterrupted time with my family. We're headed to Seattle for a little adventure! (Thanks again for everyone's recommendations).
I'll be posting some snaps on Instagram during our trip. But in an effort to really get away from work, I've closed my office for the week and taking a blog break as well. I'll be back here on Monday, August 31st in full force, and will be sure to share some adventures from our trip!
In the meantime, if you want to peruse some of our favorite posts from the summer, click here to see some of my all-time favorite posts.
P.S. In case you didn't know...
1. We have a general Oh Joy mailing list where you'll get a monthly newsletter and hear about new products before anyone else!
2. We also have a daily email that sends blog posts straight to your inbox. (If you sign up for either, make sure to confirm your subscription via email in order to get them!)
Have a great week all! See ya soon!
