thai street food style in {portland}...

Pok-pok-portland

For the last of my Portland eats, here's a spot that's near and dear to my heart. Growing up in a Thai family who owned Thai restaurants, I've always been the biggest fan of Thai food...but also very critical of the authenticity of many spots as well. I had heard great things about Pok Pok from Bonnie and Sally, and knew it was a must try for my recent trip to Portland. Despite feeling under the weather and not as voracious as usual, I still loved Pok Pok. It reminded me of the great home style meals and street food stands from Thailand, and I love that they offer dishes you can't get at most Thai restaurants in the States. The chicken wings and papaya salad {shown} were two of my favorites as well as their drinking vinegar soda {I quickly gulped down two!}. I'm glad that LA has such great Thai food, otherwise, I'd need to book a flight back to Portland stat for my Pok Pok fix! — Joy

I'm back from a great, quick weekend in Portland. One of our mid-day snacks was at Grüner for an afternoon snack. My favorites were the warm marion berry jam filled donuts {top} and the fried smashed yellow finn potatoes {bottom}...a perfect afternoon pick-me-up... — Joy
